Am I the only one who tears up when I hear this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOf4SktPDak

>> No.3764393

Maybe. Nice song but not cry worthy.

>> No.3764400

I do, but not because of the song itself. But because I'll never be 12 years old and watching Cosmos for the first time.

It also reminds me that I'll never into space.

I've been meaning to learn this on piano actually.

>>3764408
Really? I mean, it obviously was against religion, but you could easily skip those episodes and enjoy the stuff that doesn't conflict with their beliefs.

I never liked the Symphony of Science videos. They're a good attempt, but they're just not any good to listen to.

Is it just me or has /sci/ starting to take a more negative outlook on Sagan over the last few months?

They're nice when you listen to the words and not the music. The autotune is shitty for most voices apart from Sagan and a few others.

I have noticed that. Sagan was a great guy, smart and intuitive. He had a great way of explaining things.

However, I don't know if he went about it the right way. He didn't teach too many of the fundemental concepts - however, that was never really his goal was it?

Either way, Sagan was almost as good as Asimov and, if there were a hell, they would both be there looking at the stars together (no homo).

I don't think you would watch anything Sagan did to get educated. It's more to just open you up to the ideas and for those who are interested to go from there. Fundamental concepts weren't needed.

That's what I fucking loved about Cosmos. It wasn't "let's start here, then learn this and apply it, and then keep building on it", instead it was "I'm Carl Sagan and this is some shit that I find interesting."

It just jumped around from one interesting thing to another and if you wanted to learn more, you look it up later.

this is the saddest thing i've ever seen
it's like einstein dying before he got a good look at the eclipse, or when that guy who came up with plate tectonics died in like the 30s and no one believed him until like the 70s

can anyone think of any events during this time what would cause great distrust for the german people? theory was accepted in 1950

It was a forerunner, and also pretty good. I think the producers of Cosmos were well influenced by the form and content of the Ascent of Man...
