I should point out that they were basic flaws that many University level students could find.

Don't get me wrong, this kid is well ahead of children his age, but once you remove his age from the equation his mathematical abilities and general intellect are nothing special and probably below a lot of people in his Uni classes (he's just younger).

Then you add in the fact that when most people see Uni level math they don't understand a bit off it and think it takes some sort of super genius to understand.

Mix all this together and you go from "kid who is ahead for his age" to "HOLY FUCK IT'S TONY STARK GENIUS EVERYTHING HE SAYS MUST BE TRUE BIG BANG IS WRONG XD STUPID ATHEISTS"

It doesn't help that most people are having their beliefs affirmed by him and will believe him simply because of that instead of actually trying to comprehend is ideas and see the flaws in the process.

He beat my ass and told me to shut the fuck up. That 5 minutes of beatings taught me a much more valuable lesson than the extra math ever could have, and that's exactly what that kid needs. The Universe is expanding

Therefore at some point in the past it was smaller and hotter than it was now

At some point before that it was so hot and small that everything we know, all the laws, break down, and for all intensive purposes the Universe "began" then for us because nothing that happened before that point has any effect on anything afterwards and we can never know what existed before hand.

If you aren't still rocking it out academically, your father beat the curiosity and initiative out of you, probably while drunk.

Face it, he was just an asshole, and whatever post event justification you can think of still doesn't change the fact that his actions were malicious.

I think the point was that he'd be a maladjusted, antisocial, friendless weirdo had his dad indulged in his rocketmaking aspirations at the age of 6. presumably he isn't now, due to the asskicking.

Also, whats with the IQ = intelligence beliefs here... trolls? idiots?

guy with photographic memory here

im not that smart, but i can memorize ANYTHING INSTANTLY.

That doesn't mean i can understand it though.

All you faggots saying you cannot have a photographic memory are just jelly nerds

>> No.3765983

Photographic memory? Bah! I've have such shitty memory my whole life I thought I had Alzheimer's at some point, yet I'm doing fine academically. This is just another American media sensation that will disappear in 2 years.

Also, IQ =/= "intelligence"

Also, Glenn Beck is annoying as fuck.

We all have hopes for the prodigies, but they always end up as more deficient members of society.

Maybe if he's cute he'll get a sponsorship and a TV show. But we know he's going to be 30 years old one day, and nobody will care. And Justin Bieber will still be more respected, and have more money.

I don't know why this is a big deal. I was exactly like this kid back in the day. I don't think he literally disproved shit, that's just media being retarded and showering someone as prodigy. I saw all the those videos and he can high school level calc...I could too back then.

As everyone else pointed out, the high IQ you got the most likely you will stop giving a shit and end failing life. IQ doesn't mean shit and never will. Mine is 152. People ogle at these numbers, I chuckle at their ignorance.

How can I tell when my son is sick for real or just faking it?

Here are some symptoms I've observed over the past 2 years:

-Cough: There's usually 3-4 different patterns for when he coughs each time. For example: loud-short-short, or short-wheeze-short-short.

-Headache: Usually on the right side of the head, near the temple.

-Sore throat: His voice always sounds like an old man whose nasal passages are clogged. Very raspy.

Whenever he says that his body feels cold but his head feels hot, his face is red. He never claims to have a fever, though.

Thanks /sci/.

I'm at a university studying maths and physics for now. Which one I'll go into is a toss-up, I'm probably not on-par with where I'd need to be for math though, unless I want to spent an extra few semesters to catch up.

My ambition hasn't gone anywhere, and my curiosity has been replaced with sobriety. Learning how not to sensationalize the sciences and approach them instead with respect and discipline has made me into a much more balanced and rational person, I think. That kid's missing vital stages of mental development because, rather than struggling where one would naturally struggle with life, he's taking a very unbalanced route where he excels-- and not only excels, but is praised for being so great at it while being so young. How do you think he's going to feel when he's out of gradschool and can't show off to/impress his peers because they've got 20 years of intuition and experience to go from?

This kid's probably building a lot of his self identity on "Wow I'm really smart as such a young age"-- I venture to guess he'll be very confused when he enters an environment that contests those values, and probably feel very insecure emotionally. I know I would have, in his shoes.
