i know this is prob very basic to someone but to me this has been stumping me lol, 19 doing grade 10 work.. but anyways

scooter retal has 2 L per 100 km
and gas rate is 1.70 per liter

how much would it cost per km??

the formula on how to get this answer would really help more then telling me the answer aha

2 L/100 km * $1.70/1 L = $3.40/100 km = $0.0340/1 km

Someone verify this, I'm a little drunk.

Start simpler. If you're getting 100km per every 2L of fuel used, that/s a 2/100 ratio. Reduce that to 1L/50km and go from there.

If you get 50km per liter of fuel, just divide the cost per liter by the distance gained per liter. Or 1.70 / 50 = 0.034 per km.

>>3724849's formula is accurate, if literal.

basically all these kinds of questions fit in the category of "unit conversion"

the key to solving them is to work out which units to convert to as intermediate steps.

in this case you need to convert liters per 100km to litres per km (divide by 100, 0.02). then convert that from litres per km to dollars per liter (multiply by 1.70, 0.034)

there's your answer.
