I don't care if my article in the journal of supercritical fluids ever gets cited. It is still neat knowing that you contributed to overall scientific understanding.

Long after you have died your contribution will remain in some sever or magazine.

Citations means you are a acknowledged member. It is important, not that I'm going to kill myself, but I have a article that I NEED to publish, and my chances are:

1 - know/fuck/bribe someone important
2 - get citations, dozens of dozens
