I was one of those, but I had a 2.0 unweighted GPA during highschool. Thank god for AP courses. I got Ds in most of them, but got 5s on that AP exams. Anyway, I wasn't going to bother applying for the award since my grades were so bad, but a teacher made me. Sure enough it was all pointless.
