Catholics are agnostics. You may dimly recall that once upon a time there were gnostics, and gnostic texts, and especially gnostic books of the bible, which were summarily removed. The gnostics believed in direct experience of god. What came to be christians, and specifically catholics, denied such experience. Hence the importance of faith in modern Christianity. In fact, all Christians are agnostic.

This is what agnostic means, not the new, made-up bullshit by butthurts who can't win a philosophical argument but still don't want to believe in god.
