/sci/ so ended up going to sleep while feeling sleep paralysis kick in... and it kinda hurt... I mean it felt like someone was sewing different parts of my body

this isn't normal, but how exactly does sleep paralysis work

>> No.3679502

when you are sleeping about, the muscles in you're back that is holding your spine together loose regitity and become less tense, this lest you nerves slip and you cant move anymore, and sometimes they tangled up so you feel things from not there.

>> No.3679512

Before paralysis kicks in body checks if you are conscious by applying itch/sensations that would urge you to move. If you do not move, body thinks its safe to turn your body off and does it

>> No.3679513

As you start dreaming your soul leaves your body, leaving you open to demons and other evil beings. Sometimes, you wake up as they fight for control of your body. That's why it hurts, and sometimes it feels like they're pushing down on your belly, and it feels hard to breathe. Don't worry, you'll be safe most of the time.

Also some fags that can induce lucid dreams think that they are not dreams but their spirit is moving out of the body and than after hard concentration on imagining astral projection, they actually dream about it and then post shitty spiritual stuff all over the interwebz

How can I get sleep paralysis?

>> No.3679630

>>3679612
sleep deprivation, most likely.
OR
wake up at 3am, then try to "fall asleep" again, BUT, think about something, lie on your back and breathe. it will come. and you will not like it at all

This is not how spirits work. But if you think it's spirits, just make circles of salt around your bed.

>can't move for shit except eyes and breathing
>because your brain and sensory system is still asleep you see weird shit (often monsters, shadows, aliens or whateverfuck else)
>part of the brain responsible for the fear is confused and releases warning signals so in addtiion to all the YOU ARE REALLY FUCKING SCARED no matter how tough guy you are
makes sense to me

I only get sleep paralysis when I fall asleep during the day, being somewhat sleep deprived, and in an unusual sleeping environment. Still, it occurs very rarely but it has happened most often at school.

And coincidentally I experienced it just yesterday. Fell asleep in math class (morning after a crazy rave school dance and was slightly hung over so I fell fast asleep easily). Slept for about 30 minutes before the teacher noticed, and I woke up when he addressed me by name. But I couldn't fucking move. Sleep paralysis at the worst time possible. I distinctly remember trying as hard as I could to lift my hand or speak, but all in vain, I was just stuck. So the teacher walked over raising his voice and I was getting seriously worried that I wasn't going to be able to wake up at all, but then the teacher grabbed my hood and lifted it off my face and this instantly canceled the sleep paralysis and I was able to move.
So I gained personal confirmation that sleep paralysis does not affect the body's ability to respond to physical stimulation.
