What are the employment prospects for a finance or econ major?

The noose or a gas chamber, whatever makes you suffer more.

Hedge fun manager. $500,000/year and a Mercedes starting.

Sadly I read "projectile" instead of "Prospects".

Grad school, or suicide.

Gas chamber I guess.

Better than burning to death.

>>3656742
>suicide
This is a recurring theme. Why? Are they looked down upon, or are there no jobs in these fields?

everytime I talk to a "econ" major, they tell me they went into it because of the economy. They went into it so that they could add that credential to their bullshit political opinions.

Anyway, unless you have a good network, you're fucked. The market is being flooded with teens wanting to respond to recent events.

Should have done engineering. Math scores are dropping, so you'll have less competition and a growing demand. Always a growing demand.

500k a year? Are you joking? Youd be running the shittiest hedgefund I've ever heard.

Typical hedgefund managers easily make in the millions, top-end ones reach billions.

It takes 100m to open a hedgefund though.

Damn. I'm actually just interested in finance and economics, but I guess I'll have to find something else.

How about Business? How is that? It's not to late for me to still decide.

Even better.

I think finance and econ majors have the advantage of being applicable to a variety of circumstances. I think that makes them over all fairly hirable.

That's good.

What are some good schools? ASU?

dont listen to them there is no evidence to suggest that employment prospects for econ phds are dwindling

1. go to a GOOD grad school
2. know advanced math to weed yourself out from the wannabe's
3. get an 800 on the quantitative section of the GRE.

"Median annual wage and salary wages of economists were $83,590 in May 2008. The middle 50 percent earned between $59,390 and $113,590. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $44,050, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $149,110.

In March 2009, the average annual salary for economists employed by the Federal Government was $108,010. Starting salaries were higher in selected geographical areas where the prevailing local pay was higher."

Also the slow growth impacts those with bachelors only because they are retarded with math.

"There is no unemployment among Ph.D.'s in economics," declares John Siegfried, a Vanderbilt University professor.

Do not get a BS or BA in econ. you might as well just get it in finance because that will be the only sector that will touch you. Masters yes, thats cool, it opens some positions. Im just going for my PhD.

Good Luck. Dont listen to people who dont back up what they say.

also choose what is important to you in a graduate school. I would suggest you consider reputation because that is what employers care about.. but here use this tool to help you decide... also GOOGLE. jesus christ.
