I want to eat cow.
Is delicious.
But look at face, it say "no eat please."
You can clone cow meat without creating sentient organism?

IF WE CLONED OUR BEEF,
WOULD FARMERS RAISE FEWER COWS?

....WOULD COWS GO EXTINCT?

WHOOPS???

>> No.3605086

Yeah, there was a guy trying to create just the meat using stem cells, I believe.

you mean synthetic meat?

>WOULD FARMERS RAISE FEWER COWS?

Almost certainly.

>....WOULD COWS GO EXTINCT?

No. If nothing else, they'd still be everywhere in India.

>> No.3605103

you'd need to stimulate it to contract or it wouldn't become muscle, or at least wouldn't taste as nice. actually it might be veal. damn, let's do this.

I've been thinking about this for almost a decade. Not on the technical aspects, just thinking about how awesome it would be if we could mutilate the cow genome so some mama cow gives birth to a writhing mass of quickly regenerating, perfectly marbled steak that we could hook up to a sufficiently dense nutritional input system and torture it for all eternity.

SYNTHETIC MEAT, OH IF ONLY SUCH A THING EXISTED!

>> No.3605112

Does anyone have any documentation about the meat that was kind of like plant cells? I can't recall the specifics, but essentially it was meat plants grown in a lab.

The guy's name is Mark Post, at Maastricht University. You should be able to find some details in google.

I'll take 20.

>> No.3605127

It should be possible in the near future, in vitro meat it is called.

Until then, I advocate a vegan lifestyle.

Take it easy fella.

I think this is totally possible. All you have to do is grow what is essentially giant muscles, and pump them/electrically stimulate them so they stay lean and good. Then chop it up and cook it up. No conscious mind, no messy ethical dilemma in the name of delicacy.

we could engineer the meatplants parts to resemble the human vagina and sell them for mad profits.

there was an article in scientific american i read, here's the link to it but you can't read it unless you log in. might give you a starting point to research though.

basically they can produce sheets of tissue and stimulate them with electric impulses to provide texture etc, but only homogeneous meat products (eg sausages) can currently be manufactured. the goal is to make steak like chunks.

Did they try to grow bones along with muscles to shape them right ?

It would sell better if they resembled dolphin vaginas.
