Set up a proper study area, with adequate lighting, room, a pencil and paper, eraser, and other mathematical tools you will require. If you're putitng music on, put on something neutral that won't distract you. Don't take any caffeine, alchohol, et cetera before studying. Try to apply mathematics to abstract concepts and therefore apply it to whatever you're studying and have fun learning it.

Adderral is acceptable, if not the de facto drug of choice for studying, albeit its very overused and more or less hyped and therefore I see why you don't want it.

Also, turn off your cell phone and computer, and do anything you need to do before studying like eat, bathroom break, etc.

I dunno about studying (that's freaking dull, and adderall + quiet is all you need) but research requires you to be creative and think outside of the box. You have to wonder about a lot of things. It's like playing in GTA: san andreas. have fun doing whatever you want- in the world of math, you can think of anything as long as you have a piece of paper (and make sure that your things hold in logic, like how you can fuck hookers in GTA but can't stick your dick in the console and actually fuck them in real life).

NOTE: I am currently on the mixture of a ton of drugs. studying.

I want to bump the thread. I noticed I'm pretty good at grasping mathematical concepts (understanding proofs and logic) but I'm not as good when I'm actually doing calculations/solving. I suppose I should practice more but maybe there are some things that I should be informed of.
