Scientists analyzing data from the satellite PAMELA confirm the existence of an antimatter belt surrounding Earth.

Wat?

Antimatter is way unstable. It doesn't exist outside of extremely co trolled conditions

antimatter isn't unstable, it's just as stable as matter.

Until it meets matter, in which case they annihilate each other. Kind of hard to believe that it hasn't encountered any matter by now.

That's how they discovered its existence, through rare encounters with matter. There's not much in space, unless the sun is making a CME at the time then you've probably only got about 10 hydrogen atoms per cubic centimetre.

PAMELA isn't a satellite, the P stands for payload. its attached to a satellite.
