Both incorporate methods from fields other than biology; chemistry and physics respectively. This would imply their "hardness" comes from the addition of methods from non-biological sciences. So I seriously hope you're not using biochemistry and biophysics as some sort of vindication of biology.

There you have it. Biology is JUST LIKE CHEMISTRY AND PHYSICS, except that it studies NATURAL SYSTEMS which work on the LAWS CHEMISTRY AND PHYSICS DO.
