Try to research telomeres.
It's thought they play a large role in aging.
If you could find a compound that aids in the preservation of telomeres, that would be awesome.

I don't understand why biomedical engineering is even a thing. If you need something anchored get a civil and put him on a team with a doctor. If you need something to interact electrically, get an EE and put him on a team with a neurologist, etc. Biomed seems like a bad choice for a degree specialization, because you won't know enough about any part of design.
