they are able to activate past genes that have turned off / become less prevalent over the years in species through adaptation and evoltion, but of the millions of genes and possibilities, theres no knowing which ones activated in a chicken will make a propper trex or whatever.

you could figure that out, but you'd have to map the chicken genome in order to know what belonged to which animal... and given how long it took to map our genome, i'd say it ain't happening anytime soon.
