m registering for classes, i will be a full time student.

I have a choice between taking intro to biology or intro to physics as a lab science. I need 8 science credits, so I can take intro to biology, then biology 1, or i can take intro to physics, and physics 1, or i can take intro to biology, and intro to physics to fulfill my 8 credits.

My major is pretty unrelated. (Economics)
Gunning for graduate school after i earn my bachelors. Maintaining a high gpa is absolutely critical and priority.

Which science path should I take?

>> No.3474652

Well obviously you're not interested in science but gaming a shitty corrupt education system for golden stickers, so whatever gets you the most gpa points and science credits is best.

>> No.3474651

biology >>> physics
dont listen to the physics/math aspies of this board. listen to me.

>> No.3474654

if it's not calculus based physics then take physics. If you like memorizing shit take biology. If you want some memorizing, take geology and lab. But I warn you, if you don't have any interest in geology, it will be boring as shit.

>>3474652
Yes exactly. Im not sure if I want to break this news to my academic advisor that I dont really give a shit. I just want that GPA.

>> No.3474668

What kind of math should i expect to be doing in an intro to physics class? Anything more than algebra?

>> No.3474671

>>3474668
algebra will be the most you will do

>> No.3474686

Just wondering, but what's your major?

Economics

If you're asking me, I'm a petroleum engineering major. I've done physics and geology and have a lot of friends that have taken biology. All of the info that I've said is from personal experience or from first hand sources.

if you're good at memorizing shit, take biology

if you hate memorizing shit, take physics

law school lol

Oh, then I retract my prepare your anus statement and replace it with Good luck kind sir! Take biology.

Such a tossup lol. I think ill do intro to bio and intro to phys to satisfy my lower level science creds instead of a concentration. Thanks everyone for your input and opinions. Ill still be monitoring this thread if anyone has something to contribute

take physics, it's more related to econ than biology.
more math training and model manipulation instead of rote memorization of useless bio facts.

take more math, grad econ is all math bro
take real analysis and abstract algebra if u can

isn't grad school, its law school, you are basically doing another undergrad

>> No.3474766

Even for undergraduate econ, especially the upper division classes, you need to be pretty good at math, especially algebra.

Have you given any thought to intro to chemistry? It's not that tough, and from looking at the tests at my university's class, they're really easy. No real calculations involved, just basic stuff. For example: "What is the name of this compound?"

He is going to law school, not grad school for econ.

>His face when he gets to econometrics and upper division classes

>> No.3474787

It doesn't matter. Neither has any real relevance to econ. I would argue, as has been done by others here, that physics would be better so you could get used to working with mathematical models of things, but realistically since you're not gonna be taking calc-based physics, it's going to involve lots of memorization and relatively little derivation anyway.

And then insert shameless plug for chemistry here. I'm too tired to do my duty.

Wow. Lucky americans you can buy books so cheap. I just saw amazon prices. If i buy it and want to ship it to EU it will cost much more.... :S tax+shipping

And you just got free shipping fuck... lucky bastards...

>> No.3476115

I would say do an intro to both. Seeing as your major is completely unrelated anyway it would probably serve you better in life to know a wider range of science than just one or the other
