So guys, when did /sci/ get so bad?
also, what is the most viable alternative to fossil fules?

>> No.3467349

/sci/ is getting shittier and shittier with more and more people that still don't know about alternatives for fissil fuels

>> No.3467350

YOU are the reason, why /sci/ is so bad.
Instead of real science you post trolling bullshit.
You know exactly that there is no precise scientific answer to your question.
All you wanna see is a shitstorm of opinions.

>> No.3467354

/sci/ was always bad, and we'll need all the fossil-fuel alternatives we can get. There is no cure-all.

I like solar thermal power though. And nuclear goes without saying. Fusion would be great, but it's always 50 years away.

LFTR, according to /sci/

that and unicorn farts

(Personally, I prefer slave labor. Putting excess population to good use since 5000 BC!)

Why switch from fossil fuels? the market shows 100 dollars a barrel is an acceptable price, and we can make oil for less than 100 dollars a barrel.

>> No.3467414

>>3467399

>climate change

>energy security

>peak oil/gas/coal

>general pollution

Pretty good reasons to make the switch, and the sooner we do it, the less painful peak oil will be

>the market shows 100 dollars a barrel is an acceptable price

Every price is "acceptable" when you're addicted to something.

>> No.3467428

>>3467414

>climate change
making oil will reduce atmospheric co2 levels
>energy security
by making oil we guarantee a steady level, that can be scaled as need increases
>peak oil/gas/coal
there is no peak until we run out of land. 5% of the land currently used for corn ethanol would supply the worlds entire current power needs.
>general pollution
oil production would remove pollutants from the atmosphere

>> No.3467435

Nuclear Power,
All we need is nuclear power.
INB4 its not safe! someone think about the children!
More safe that oil.
