I like the idea of self expression through clothing. Anime would be boring to look at if characters didn't have distinctive clothing, and real life is no different. The only problem is that everyone I've ever met who goes out of their way to dress in an interesting way has a shitty personality so I don't want to be associated with them.

I wear a trench coat often, cyberpunk characters often wear trench coats and that's a genre that's had a big influence on me. Its not strange enough to make me a freak, but it does stand out.

I work and go to school, my schedule and geography means that I wear the same thing all day, so I get a lot of "Why are you so dressed up. you have an interview?"

But anyway, it's usually
Brooks bros or online MTM slim fit, non iron shirt in light blue or off white solids or stripes
wool trouser in grey (charcoal, mid grey, light grey) or sometimes a chino in earthtones
shoes and belt in the same tone of leather, I generally wear slide buckle + strap belts
sometimes a sport coat or blazer
never a tie

It gets reactions from girls although more often secretaries and waitress types than students (Do they feel intimidated?)

I only carry around a folio, no backpack to avoid looking like a mormon
