Being strictly agnostic is not a thing. You can be an agnostic theist or an agnostic atheist, but never just agnostic. Agnosticism deals with the notion of knowing or doubt while theism deals with the notion of belief. So you can believe and admit that you don't know for certain and be an agnostic theist. Or you can say you don't believe and admit that you don't know for certain and be an agnostic atheist.

Of course a person could be a total zealot and say that they don't have a drop of agnosticism in them and they might claim that they KNOW for certain that there is or isn't a god. These people are insane. These are the people that we usually characterize in our heads when we think of "christian" or "atheist" when in reality, almost nobody but the most insane ever fall into a category of dogmatism.

Science has an axiomatic framework that allows us to exploit the laws of nature very well, which is a good indicator that we understand them better than we used to.

Atheism is the result of the lack of a reasonable framework to understand what god is or what god wants. It only exists as a response to claims about god that lack substance.

Carl Sagan didn't like the label atheist, he misinterpreted it to mean a strict "all knowing" there is no god atheist. When he could have simply called himself an agnostic atheist 90% there is no god/ 10% maybe there might be one. However this does not mean he is by default one of those retarded 50/50 god may or may not exist agnostics. Also appeal to authority is a fail argument.
