It's all meaningless.

i so witty

>> No.3384084

Nihilism it the ultimate end of continued logical analysis of the world.

If you look hard enough you find that nothing has meaning and everything is arbitrary.

Doesn't seem like a particularly useful model, so I don't use it.

Also, pronounce Nietzsche as 'Neetshee' if you want to demonstrate your culture's endemic stupidity.

>> No.3384188

Well i've watched Fight Club almost 13 times and I think Nihilism is pretty edgy and cool.

>> No.3384216

it's pretty much the belief that things such as value, meaning, morality and purpose are inventions of mankind. pretty hard to disagree with it. people often bash it because they interpret "no intrinsic value" as "no value ". if "extrinsic" was in their vocabulary, there would be alot less criticism of nihilism.

>> No.3384223

>>3384216
uhhh wouldn't extrinsic mean meaning imposed upon reality by an outside agent like a god?

It isn't comforting to know that things don't matter, so you can just do what you like?
It isn't useful to realise that you don't need to justify doing the things that you love?

Nihilism explains what the world is, satanism/socialdarwinism explains how people should live.

That's my opinion anyway, I combine the edgiest and coolest philosophies ever.

I hate to discuss semantics but most self-avowed nihilists just confuse cynicism with realism and don't understand nihilism at all, I am forced to split nihilism into 2 definitions.

1: The original abstract concept of nihilism as explained by Nietzsche who did not display it in a positive light and theorized that in the future nihilism would be replaced by a new set of values that is compatible with the real world unlike religion which depends on the supernatural.

2: 15 year olds who watched "fight club", "american beauty" or "avatar" or the many trendy movies out there and now believe they are superior to everyone else, some particularly low intelligence specimens retain these beliefs well into their 20s.

>> No.3384480

My god am I pissed off by all of the "so edgy" and "trying to be hip and cool teenagers" stereotypes, do you people honestly encounter that many "nihilists" that are definitely purporting to have those views for those reasons?

IT'S LIKE I NEVER LEFT

>> No.3384541

It depends of the kind of nihilism we're talkgin about. Schopenhauer's nihilism it's kinda pessimistic.

>> No.3384602

I like nihilism, because it sets humans in responsibility. So humans are responsable for the ethics they set up and practise, because there isn't a higher moral concept. And humans are in charge in how they live their own life and to create an athmosphere in society in which they feel comfortable and can reach edomonia.

I think the idea that in an meaningless world you can abandon yourself from the society and live a indivindualistic life is wrong. The loss of any higher concept should rather obligate every person to contribute to society, so that everyone can get his or her happiness.

>> No.3384616

Each and every last one of them.

>> No.3384633

>>3384480
Agreed. Unfortunately the edgy hipster nihilist image has been spread for a reason. People who actually understand nihilism don't rub it in anyone's faces and might not bring it up at all, so as not to look like an evil cunt to their moralfag friends. People who don't understand it try to wear it like a battle scar or something.

Also I didn't pick up nihilism at all when I watched Fight Club many years ago. Now I feel like an idiot because apparently that film was meant to have nihilism as a very obvious theme.

>> No.3385876

I like the way Keynes is cains like the oven chips and Keats is keats like meat and neat. Any other easily confused surnames. It is our duty as nihilists.

>> No.3385881

The best part is that nihilism is pointless.

>> No.3387275

Why is it that you come to the conclusion that everything is pointless and then some smartarse comes along and rolls his eyes and says "yeah, been there done that" and then goes on to promote some retarded junk pseudo religious spiritual bullshit philosophy that he finds comfort in as a result of "going through the other end of the tunnel?

>> No.3388907

>>3387275
Wait, wait. Whoa. You're saying that some people claim to move on from nihilism like it was just a phase for them?
