How do I know whether I really like science or whether I'm just a tiny bit curious?

As a student I don't actually do science. I just learn about it. The learning process is mostly tedious and only at specific instants rewarding.

I really don't know whether this is as good as it gets or whether I should explore other unrelated fields.

A friend of a friend of mine had his first lab experience in the semester before he wrote his bachelor thesis. It's pretty unlucky if after 5 semesters you realize you don't like what you're supposed to be doing I guess.
As for you, OP, ... wait. Or maybe ask around if you can help in a lab with some mini project. (Also: working on loud expensive machines is fun.)

Science is more than anything about writing. If you don't like to write, don't go into science.

You don't do it because you like it, you do it because you have testicles

Well he does sort of have a point, if you read any scientific literature you'll find that often the same meaning and explanation could be done in half the words.

So the author is a bad writer. What does this have to do with science?

Most impirtant step in scientific method is sharing with scientific community. Everything else means shit without it. And if yoy cannot clearly share, then nothing you did will be clearly ubderstood.

Ever read a paper? It's about cramming as much information as possible into a sentence, not about stylistic devices and rhymes.

>as much information as possible into a sentence

That's what excel is for.

Sit in front of a pile of pages
These pages have a mysterious, random number set written on them

You are just kind of curious if you:
1. Burn them for heat
2. Try to sell them to an old cat lady
3. Arrange them into a collage of a Pink Floyd album
4. File them away according to the Dewey decimal system

You are a scientist if you:
1. Find out what they mean
2. Give them a goofy Latin name
3. Write an equation that describes them
4. Inject them into yourself to prove they don't cure anything
