In the name of science, I must know why!

I am trying to find anyone out there that has hair on their index finger's middle compartment! Everyone I've checked at home and University usually have very fine hair on the middle and lower compartment on every finger, except for the middle compartment of the index finger. (sorry if i'm using the wrong terminology)

If none of you do, any possible reason for this? Why did evolution favour those without hair on the middle compartment of their index finger? Did it reduce air drag when you point at something or what?

WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A STUDY ON THIS

I MUST KNOW

Interesting. I just checked mine, mine doesn't have it either. I wonder why that is? Do you know of any of our ape cousins who also don't have any hairs on their first finger second phalanges?

>> No.3295226

Bump for curiosity.

I don't have hair on the bit you mentioned, but the other parts of my hand is hairy as fuck. Only today did I notice the hair on my knuckles.

Ta for the boost in my self-mage.

>> No.3295236

you know what?
I've checked and I don't have ANY hair on any middle section of my fingers. The base sections are all hairy.
A WONDER OF NATURE?

Shit son, your power's growing. Soon you will be the greatest mage in the realm.

Quick, minions, we must feed the master more! Insult his genetics by making more baseless claims! He will grow stronger!

Um, no. Some of my friends are the same. A wonder of nature would be someone who HAS hair on the middle compartment of their index finger. Since you don't have that, shoo.

+1 to the no section. middle-index baldfag here.

It's because evolution favored those who did not die from frozen fingers.

So evolution favoured those whose index fingers froze off?

I lost it on the right when playing with fire.

I count 4 hairs. Very fine and small though.

From googling, I have concluded that human fingers are hairier than chimps' fingers (surprisingly) and so their fingers cannot be used for reference.

Perplexing. Do you live somewhere cold or are descended from people who lived somewhere cold? If not, then any possible reason for this to your knowledge?

I have hair there

I think there may be a correlation between this absence of hair and the fact that the index finger is vastly the most often used of our 10 digits....
What do you think?

I have very fine hair on all of my fingers.

>> No.3295353

Weird. I thought I was the only one with this curiosity.

I come from fairly hairy genetics, and the middle of my index finger is completely bare. I assumed it was just another sign of me being a freak, like having one ear that looks like my mom's, and one ear that looks like my dad's.

Or having only one hitchhiker's thumb on the same side as my pointy ear.

Oh God, I'm an asymmetrical freak. Why are both my fingers bare?

I'm gonna stop doing this. If hair grows I'll take pics.
