Wow, so the majority of you are a bunch of unpleasant douchebags, from the look of it.

I liked the image, OP, keep at it.

In my opinion, the existence of life is a highly overrated phenomenon.

i am probably unique, yes. but the atoms that make me have no doubt and will no doubt make some other creature so it's not a rare opportunity for them to know themselves.

OP here. I can easily change the phrasing (I have it open right now).

If someone offers a more accurate or more poetic phrasing, I'll change it.

You're not listening (reading hurdur) to what I'm saying.
The way I understand the atoms that make me is unique but the opportunity for atoms to come together to make something that can attempt to understand them may well have happened before, or will happen again in future (therefore not unique)

>> No.3294975

>>3294966
change unique to rare, you don't know if an atom in your body once made up another person.

in fact, dont change it at all. delete it all. just listen to symphony of science and use a quote from that.

Sometimes when I'm in bed my mind wanders to the scope and majesty of the universe...

The size of things, the distinces involved, the ingenuity that people had in learning the things that we've been able to learn.

I feel profoundly lucky to have been born as a human in the developed world in this time. Numerically, the odds of being born as a human instead of some other species that wouldn't have such insight are millions to one. My particular instance of consciousness being an intelligent human living in the developed world was like winning the sentience lottery.

It's enough to bring tears to my eyes.

Humans observe how lesser animals communicate with each other through sounds, gestures, scents, etc. Those sounds, like a dolphin's call, or an elephant's subsonic rumbling, are undecipherable to us. Well, perhaps not undecipherable, but they are not compatible with our own communication.

We, humans, are everywhere, communicating with each other in sounds and sights (talking and writing). Even this text I'm writing, is sight-based. When you talk to your family or friends, you're simply making noise.

Let H represent humans. Let A represent life forms that are lesser than human, let's say, A, like cows, sheep, deer, insects, etc. Also, consider an entity, we'll call, M, that satisfies the following analogy:

A is to H as H is to M.

To M, our language, our actions, when we talk, when we swear, when we spray paint brick walls with graffiti, is just as interesting to M as A's actions are to us, H.

Conjecture? Is this analogy infinitely extendable in both directions?
