i need some advice. i have a project in school where i have to determine the general formula for how many hexagons can you draw on a 3x3 panel as on the picture. the problem is that no angle can be 180° and it has to have 6 corners and 6 sides. if anyone could help, i would appreciate it.

I get 9 unique shapes, 2 of which have symetry and so have 4 possible permutations (90 degree rotation) the other 7 have 8 possible perumations (90 degree rotation, multiplied by 2 because the shape can also be inverted and still be unique)

7*8 + 4*2 = 64 unique shapes in total.

how will you write a general formula? this is a single question. for a formula there usually is some value 'n' which is changing, which corresponds to a number change somewhere else.
you could make a general formula between grid size and number of possible unique shapes, but if it is just a 9X9 grid permanently i fail to see how you can make a formula out of this.

OP here, i actually got 13 unique shapes, 1 of them can be rotated once, so 2 shapes, 2 of them can only be rotated so 4 shapes and the other rotated * inverted . so in total 90 shapes.
But does anybody know, if there is a formula for this, cuz i got it for triangles in the same space,
The formula for triangles is (9!)/(6!)(3!) - (the posibilities that that triangle becomes a line)
In that way i need a formula for this but i always get wrong numbers or the equation doesnt make sence.

if you enumerate all of the points like:
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
and select randomly : you can get a heyagon
1 2
4 5
7 8
and the angle in 4 and 5 is 180°
