If /sci/ got together and received funding, can we achieve something, scientifically?

Or will we just do a bunch of high schooler's math homeworks?

>> No.3287301

Technically we would achieve something by doing a high schooler's homework.

>> No.3287307

We would spend all of our funding in trying to create a working perpetual motion machine. One that involves magnets.

>> No.3287320

Why would some random anonymous strangers on an internet imageboard receive funding to do anything?

>> No.3287332

With limited funding I'm pretty sure /sci/ scraped together, one of us got a hamster habitat to the bottom of a lake. Mission was a great success.

With this in mind, there is no end in sight to the possibilities with sufficient funding.

depends on what you guys fields are.

Gotta go with this.

Personally, I would suggest we repurpose Tesla's death ray concept to blast air resistance out of the way while closely launching payloads with small boosters via mass driver right behind the shockwave.
Ta da, potential cheap payload delivery to LEO and GEO.

I dunno maybe as a group we could apply for funding to pointlessly torture rats and imply it will somehow benefit humanity one day.

If you lock up 300 high schoolers in a room with science fun and infinite time...you will almost certainly produce some results.

Man, I just like to sit here, get stoned, and use pseudoscientific language I used to earn my degree, to fuck with people who are doing the same thing to me, so that we can all feel superior. I don't want to do work.

Well, you could set aside the funding as a prize and challenge these same strangers to accomplish whatever science related.

Um. If the station pushes on leo payloads, the station itself will need to burn to the effect of the same amount of impulse that acts upon the payload.
ie: payload goes into LEO, station gets fucked and burns up in atmosphere.

I've ran several fundraisers for many different organizations before. The problem with your suggestion is that you all are mostly lazy college students who can't show need for funding.

The question public/private foundations or companies will most likely ask is why do you need the money? If you can't give a concrete answer with backing and a clear goal, they will deny any sort of sponsorship. No one wants to waste money or limit another organization's funds by giving some to a worthless cause.

And reading some of the "projects" here, I'm pretty sure none of you guys have never done anything scientifically in your life.
