If the world were to eventually come to their senses and have a single spoken (and written) language, what do you think it would be?

I know most people will probably say English... it's the only language I know but I am willing to give it up.

IMO, the choice should not be about the most popular language or anything like that.. it should be made by a team of linguists who will determine which language is the most flexible, expressive, and efficient. (with the top concern being toward scientific and technical ease of expression and less toward art and poetry type considerations.)
If needed modifications could be made, or an entirely new language could be made up to meet theses requirements.

So what do you guys think this new language would be like, or would be closest to? (or which language do you think would be picked, but unaltered?)

but isn't esperanto designed to be "easy to LEARN"?

What purpose would that serve if everyone learns this new language from birth.
I would much rather have a language that is super difficult to master, if it had a lot of benefits once the language is learned.

Most technical scientific terms are in latin and greek so one of these I guess.

serbo-croatian language has one interesting feat: EVERY voice in the word is EXACTLY ONE letter. So when you hear unknown word you automatically know how to write it, because you write it exactly as you hear it. 30 letters, each representing one voice. Super convinient

but besides that, has too many shitty rules which makes it super hard to lean.

If I understand what you're saying, then Spanish is the same way. I mean, most words sound the same way they are written (with the exception of a few rules).
