Google has been working on this tech for a while now.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9Fxp3HK6DI&feature=player_embedded

They seemed to have perfected the tech since that video, since they started pushing for legislation to allow automated cars to drive on Nevada roads.

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/11/science/11drive.html

I thought the magnet-train-esc system of cars on the highway was a pretty neat idea, but this shit tops that oldschool idea. Can't wait to sleep in my vehicle on the way to work in the near future with only a slim chance of tech malfunction and possible death.

Google appears to be the sole innovative powerhouse left in the United States. A decade has gone by since their IPO (less, actually) and everything we do already completely depends on something developed by one of their buildings.

Need to find your way? Google Maps.
Want to see what the place looks like before you get there? Street View.
Open Source OS for your phone with more free apps than apple, gmail, cloud computing, Google apps for business, still has one of the most used search engines, google ads, etc.

My business is just getting started trying to market a product and much of what we are doing depends on Google sharing information and software with us so we can get started and it's mostly automated.

I doubt there is any company in the world that has been capable of making the strides Google has in the same amount of time ever.

And they're still doing it, it appears.

Oh, and help start riots in the Middle East toppling oppressive regimes (and that China thing)

and fuck our privacy at the same time.

You don't even have to tell it where to drive since Google knows enough about you to determine where you need to go.

I, for one, welcome our new cyberspace overlords.

As long as it isn't a dictatorship.

So the Oort cloud ends at about 10^4.75 ... and Alpha Centauri is about 10^5.5 away .... that means that Alpha Centauri's Oort cloud would be within 10^1 of our sun!!

But what about people who like driving cars manually?

fuck them, let them take their vehicles to tracks if they want to endanger themselves and others

They're no different than shitty little Indian villages who prefer to drink shitty mud water over filtered water, increased child mortality be damned.
