I just controlled the brightness (through duty cycle) of an LED, based on the temperature of an LM35 temperature sensor, through a PIC microcontroller (programed in Hi-Tech C).

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!

Nice man! I just blew out another one of my 9V batteries today, I don't know how the fuck I did it. I'll have to find out, anyway.

Whats the most basic 555 timer circuit I can make? I really want to just make an LED blink or something.

Which PIC? inb4 using a 32-bit PIC to flash an LED.

Also, that sort of stuff should be done in assembler. You shouldn't be using C on anything less than a PIC18. If you're programming a PIC10/12/16, you need to understand what's going on at the assembler level or else you'll end up using a more powerful (and more expensive) chip than you really need.
