To everyone with a BA in physics; What was the subject of your examination paper?

I think I'll do something on radioactivity.

>> No.3219560

thesis on radioactivity? what the..

>> No.3219558

>examination paper
What's that, don't you have to write a proper thesis?

>> No.3219562

No replies. Either /sci/ are uneducated trolls, or physicists are too busy zapping bugs with the LHC proton beam.

>> No.3219567

What the fuck is examination paper? Do you mean thesis?

English is not my first language, and I thought it'd go without saying that it'll be something far more specific than just "radioactivity". Just trying to say which general area of physics I'll do something in.

>mfw BA in physics
I have a BS in physics. BA is for pussies.

Is that like a Masters degree? Don't you have to get a BA (Bachelor) first?

>> No.3219586

>>3219584
BA is bachelor of arts.
BS is bachelor of science.

>> No.3219587

BA - Bachelor of Arts
BS - Bachelor of Science

>> No.3219590

If you got a BA in physics, you probably didn't do a good job researching your university before you enrolled.

You should have got a BS in art history instead

I thought BA was just short for Bachelor. Not used to the english names. My original question still stands though; what was the subject of your thesis?

>> No.3219605

Oh, if you're talking about thesis, than superconductivity. I can give you the exact title, if you want.

>> No.3219612

Mine was the same as the subject of my research topic. But you lowly Bachelors people don't carry out research as part of your degrees do you?

>> No.3219619

Not during our education. But in the last term of the third (final) year, we get to write a thesis. Usually we're put in some physics department to work on stuff the senior staff cant be assed to do themselves.

>Usually we're put in some physics department to work on stuff the senior staff cant be assed to do themselves.

It's the same for Masters students and even PhDs a lot of the time. Are you expected to do your thesis on the reseach topic, or just on anything you want? I mean, there's always thorium.

That actually sounds pretty fun.

So glad I chose to transfer from Engineering to Physics. This time next year I'll be a Physics student.

MPhys reporting in. Bsc is Bachelor tier.

As long as I find a "mentor" able and willing to oversee my work I can do pretty much anything I want. I asked the student director to ask around in the radiation physics department on my behalf.

That's neat. I don't know what's hot in radiation physics at the moment, besides particle therapy for cancer.

LOL MSci actual master race here.

>Just kidding I still don't know the difference to this day.

I think MPhys is normally taken as an undergrad, but MSc/MSci is postgrad. Not sure.

>> No.3220256

MSci and MPhys are both Undergrad Masters

You're thinking of MSc which is a 1 year postgrad thing to get you to the same level

However I don't know the difference between MSci and MPhys.
