hi /sci/
what should I study/major in to work and make simulated reality real? thinking bio and comp science.

I want to connect with other minds like in The Matrix, something similar to cyber brains in Ghost in the Shell, and some kind of sedative like in Inception.

I sit behind a computer practically all day so my body seems kind of useless to me. If simulated reality existed people would take up as much space as a coffin, would not need as much food to function, and physical conflict would be nonexistent.

theoretical physics because you're gonna have to build a time machine to travel to the future when we actually understand the brain enough to do anything even close to that

btw spare me the articles from cracked about how simulated reality is "ALMOST POSSIBLE!", im not going to read some journalism dropout obsessing over some off-hand remark he heard from a scientist

Follow Samefag's steps and become a neuroscientist, work on brain-computer interfaces, and always remember to read your PAIP.

Every major.

Every single one.

Well, it is almost possible in physicist terms. We're just a few orders of magnitude off.

I studied molecular bio. Didn't even take enough computer courses to minor in it. Not a single dedicated neuroscience course (not for lack of trying, stupid course conflicts).
All I'm doing for that project is clever material science.
I'm probably a bad example for this guy's question :D

Just wire some brains together during lucid dreams.

I'm applying to bioinformatics this fall. I think cs and cellular biology are good combos.

I personally would like to learn more about biochem and computer engineering. The interface between bio and machine has to be worked on before we can mess with higher level stuff like cellular biology and computational modeling.

For example, have you see the rat robot?

It will take a coalition to do that.

LSD... a lot of it
