There's a program called Tripcode explorer you can use to look for certain strings, but if you have a graphics card made by ATI it's probably a better idea to use mty, which is much faster.
If you don't want to do this (which you shouldn't, as it's immature and pointless) then try downloading BOINC and running a few projects. It's a program that uses your PC's spare power to analyse data for various scientific projects, and overall the grid's apparently more powerful than the fastest supercomputers in existence.

it takes exponentially longer to generate each new trip. There are about 62 possible characters. To get one character at the start of a trip you have to generate about 62 tripcodes, but if you want another character after that, you need to generate 62 with the first character to get it, meaning you need 3844. For a third character you need to generate 62^3, for a fourth 62^4. Though you can probably get about 5 million tripcodes a second on a normal desktop PC, generating more than about 6 characters isn't really possible. The full 9 characters would take about 85 years.

There are 128 possible characters a tripcode can be generated from.
There are 10 characters in a tripcode
The number of total tripcodes is <span class="math">128^{10}[/spoiler], or 1180591620717411303424
if you're generating 5 million a second, you're still going to need 37,410,690,949,801 years to get the tripcode.That's about 2500 times the length of the universe so far.
