HELLO UP THERE /sci/

we need to find out the Airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow, please help !

>> No.3155107

What species of swallow, and what conditions is it flying in?

>> No.3155114

The average cruising airspeed velocity of an unladen European Swallow is roughly 11 meters per second, or 24 miles an hour.

The numbers do not change very much between african and european swallows.

Would it be capable of carrying a coconut? Perhaps with another swallow? Held under the dorsal guiding feathers?

>> No.3155143

>>3155124

No and no, you'd need many swallows in conjunction to carry even one small coconut. They're very lightweight birds and coconuts are rather hefty.

And it would grip it by the husk.

It's actually a little surprising that they've not tested it.
