with how much did you start investing, what was the exchange rate then?

2/10 - US $0.30 per bitcoin. Started with US$2000 but had trouble finding enough coins to buy for the first 6 months.

Still holding all my originals. currently trading at about US$3.50.

a few things I noticed along the way

1) mining is not worth it.
2) you can find bargains if you look for them, still.
3) keep an eye on the IMF. Be ready to sell quickly if necessary.

thanks for the advice, I'm looking to start investing but I'm waiting for prices to drop a bit more.

that could prove worrysome. no one wants deflation.

one thing I still find very helpful is to find real-world bargains for bitcoins. could be anything from a service to a commodity or object. something you can turn around and sell for real (fiat) currency.

sort of like commodities speculation but with bitcoin conversion. you can go short even, but the long haul is a better way, especially when they cap is reached in a couple years.
