ok, it's time to go to space
but who wants to go cruising the galaxy in some boring "practical" vessel? no sir, you do it in style

pick any object or machine or vehicle to act as your space ship.
-assume the combined power source/populsion/antigravity generator can fit within a standard briefcase
-assume a forcefield is generated around your craft such that sealing against radiation and loss of pressure is not an issue

me? i'd take an old typhoon class Russian sub. tear out the insides and make it one big long house. lots of portholes to look out of. i'd keep the nuclear reactor in there, if only out of respect for the design. it'd make a mighty toasty heater

I'll agree with that

Torus habitat + antimatter containment field the size of a briefcase.

Torus habitat is 20km in diameter with an Earth, Mars and Lunar gravity level all with their own plant life and so forth.

Because I cannot think of any material that could withstand the tensile forces a ringworld would require. I would also be limited to specific orange dwarf stars that have a habitable zone at 0.5AU.

How about we build a torus habitat out of quark matter?

When we leave, the Sun will get dragged along with our gravity.

Or we could go even moar awesome:
>a massive object approaching the Local Group of galaxies. The object is approaching at nearly half the speed of light. It is approximately 10 light-years across. It has a mass of 100 billion suns. And it is clearly and unmistakably artificial.
