I'm quite sure my teacher gave the wrong answer regarding this and I'm asking you guys just to make sure (because I'm slightly confused now).

So, what's partial derivate for x from function
x (times) y - (1/2)x - (3/4)y?

diff: xy - x/2 - 3y/4

the xy goes to just y
the x/2 changes to 1/2
and seeing as the 3y/4 term doesn't have an x in it, you can just ignore it.
so it goes to y - 1/2

f'(x) = (x*y - x/2 - 3y/4)'

in this equation simply consider 'y' as a constant (as if it was any actual number, like - 69).

(3y/4)' = 0,
(x/2)' = { derivate of a power function or simply of linear } = 1/2,
and xy the same way.

sum it all up - tada
