What does /sci/ do when it can't solve a problem on a math test?

I usually just put the original equation over zero and circle it.

that's bloodly fucking genius. I'm going to do that on a problem on one of my next tests just to troll the professor

How is that genius? The professor will just say that the problem is solvable, and you will still get it wrong.

Use TI-89 to solve the problem then reverse engineer the problem from the answer. Anyone else?

I get as far as I can with showing my work, and if I really can't figure it what to do next, or where I made a mistake, I leave it as it is.

what kind of math are you taking that you can use a ti-89 in a test???

you've had three semesters of linear algebra? i didn't know that there was such a thing as linear 3..the more you know

Had a test last week that had to do with conic equations. In the calculator portion, there was only one question, and it involved finding A, B, C, E, K and writing a standard equation for the elliptical path of a comet, and then finding A, B, C, E, K and the standard equation of a second parabolic comet that moves around that comet.

My dog of nine years died just last week (About 4 days before the test), so I gave the question a shot and then in the answer field wrote "My fucking dog died four days ago."

I would usually just draw a little comic with a math pun or something. I would show the work I had done on the problem, but if i couldn't solve it I wouldn't try to write a bunch of confusing bs down. People grading papers hate when they have to sort through a whole bunch of nonsensical crap. I figure it's better to keep them in a good mood while showing that you tried than to put them in a bad mood by making them look at line after line of garbage.
