>Parents tell me if I go to college, I'll be successful
>Not fond of economics, biology, or law, decide to major in an Engineering field, since anything in liberal arts seems like a waste of money
>2 years in, the classes are much harder than I anticipated, GPA starts waning a bit but still manage to pass all my pre-reqs.
>Start looking around for Internship opportunities, or possibly a lead on a prospective position
>The EE field has been dwindling over the years, can't find any kind of notable positions
>Realize anyone graduating out of school with a GPA less than 3.0 is going to be unemployed forever

I want to kill myself.

When you get a job, they dont ask what your gpa was.

YEAH DON'T GRADUATE WITH LESS THAN A 3.0

I DID THAT, NOT RECOMMENDED.

Yeah, but I'm competing with a plethora of Graduate students who haven't been able to find a job yet, and they emphasize on Work Experience more than anything.

So my only other options are Internships or Graduate school, both require a solid GPA to attend.

My GPA is a 2.9. I guess I should work at that.

I applied for an internship recently, and the requirements were a 3.0

>MFW when I told them my GPA is 3.0 to 3.9 range

>> No.3043488

you're better off than if you chose the alternative, by far. i get emails all the time from companies looking for engineering majors for internships/coops, no idea what the issue is where you're at. if you want to kill yourself as an undergrad, drop out/change majors immediately because then it is a waste of time, just start volunteering anywhere you can, learn to program well and most importantly find something you want to do (sounds like you should still be in high school). your first few years at college should be amazingly fun and simple, i didn't even go to lectures and maintained a 3.7 at a reasonably respected university. idk lol, success isn't easy but it isn't necessary either. there's always people around who can help motivate you or hook you up.

Aw shit Negroids. GPA is such garbage. I feel horrible, because, we are being judged on metrics that dont measure our capacity at all.

Dont you guys think?

I agree, that is why I thought it was ok to round up to 3.5, i was busy doing research sophomore & junior year and so my gpa was meh

if i get rejected i guess i will just go get my phd and work in academia for the rest of my life...but im ok with this

>> No.3043535

I can't say anything about your rec, and I don't expect you to tell me their names cause this is 4chan after all... but your lab experience and research is average (maybe even below-average) for those at Stanford Med.

What were your MCAT scores?

I think "the game" is getting better. Employers arent dumb, they are figuring out GPA is garbage.

Besides, GPA isnt the only measure. I dont want to brag, I have one kick ass resume.
