Yeah, the heart has to work harder to pump all that blood. I do weight training three days per week before I teach Calc 1, and my doctor gave me a lot of relevant literature. jesus was a true prophet for humanity (muhammad probably was too, same for the buddha), but the scriptures are all metaphors that were made up at their time to make humanity follow their example, and are now outdated and should be replaced with the truth, which is that religion is a far more basic and human thing, and thus potentially much truer, than we could have thought under classical interpretations of scripture - the alternative is to think that they all were just insane and had a bunch of good ideas, but that seems to make less sense to me

Isn't that what good online resources should do? If someone wants to download the book, then they can do so through the sites posted in the Books Sources section.

So a while back I did an experiment with Nitinol. Part of the experiment was dropping the ausenite and martensite phase of Nitinol on the floor.
Ausenite made loud ping sound, and martensite made dull thud sounds. Why so???

The difference between XKCD and Dresden Codak is that the jokes in XKCD are funny thoughts that occurred to the author, which happen to be obscure to most of the audience and the author just doesn't care (he never expected his comic to be popular), while in Dresden Codak, the author deliberately sets out to MAKE IT obscure, looking obscure things up he wouldn't otherwise know and doesn't normally think about specifically for that purpose.

This is what makes Dresden Codak pretentious and XKCD sincere.

Mind you, a whole lot of people behave pretentiously toward XKCD (pretending to get jokes so they look clever and educated, acting as if anyone who's mentally adequate would get all of the jokes), but it's not inherently pretentious in and of itself.

1. it's spelled Austenite not "Ausenite",
2. Austenite is the Face Centered Cubic allotrope of steel.

If you're in for neurobiology I don't think you need anything past calculus and linear algebra. I'm not really sure though, but I've seen it an a biology course curriculum in my university that they don't require students to go beyond those maths. Thirdly, inversly proportional functions are of the form y=k/x, just like proportional functions are y=kx.

1) Plug in x=7, y=11. Find k. Write it down in the function y=k/x. You're done.
