I've decided on a quest that I'm going to dedicate my life to. EVERLASTING LIFE. Yes, longevity. Not immortal (that's impossible) but certainly very, very long life. Like 2000+ years.

Currently I'm a biochemistry major. I'm going to add on Computer Science.

So what does /sci/ think of my goal?

Join the club. It's already a very established field and I recently saw a Scientist on the Beeb claiming that he estimates 30-50 years before technology that reverses the aging process of cells, and indefinitely keeps them at a youthful age, is available.

if you want to change the behavior of every cell you pretty much have to rewrite dna and rna, which means you can genetically engineer any other mutation ha. Anyhow if there was a predictable way to come closer to longevity, those with power would do anything to make it happen. I wouldn't been so optimistic about the dates or the possibility of applying new methods to already born people.

That'd be pretty cool, I could listen to Pavement and smoke pot for like 2,000 years.

>> No.3041177

While you do that, i'll take those same classes and make myself a killing machine.

Then I will hunt down high class immortals who keep their products to themselves to rule over those who gave them their power.

Unless they kept it secret people would wage outright war for any guarantee on everlasting life.

And keeping it a secret would be pretty damn hard, this isn't something which can be done in a secret with a couple scientists viably.

Every bright eyed science major comes into college think "I will major in 5 different subjects and be the greatest scientist of all time".

Then they realize studying one is hard enough.

If you can pull it off more power to you, but it will be very tough.

as for the immortality aspirations, welcome home, fellow singularitarian.

Me too, am always excited about longevity.

But.
I will get rich instead of being a science.
I will make few companies and be billionaire.
aigh?
