hey! first year on mech engineer here, as a assignment I have build a car, propulsed by a stirling engine made with recicled stuff, and with a chasis made out of paper. By car i mean like a toy, it has to cross the university hall only with a small burner and 100 ml of alcohol. any ideas or recomendations?

OP here, wrong picture
btw not trolling

Is this what people do in university?

>> No.3027555

make the alcohol explode, giving the car enough force to travel across the hall... never said it had to be in one piece

I take it you get the stirling engine and don't have to build that yourself.

Pour the alcohol in a decapitated beer can, build a heat exchanger and hook the engine to the heatexchanger and drivetrain. Try to not set car on fire.

Or build an alcohol fueled jet/rocket engine and skip the stirling engine.

make the car as long as the hall!

nope its just this course, the rest are mostly teoric

>>3027555
that would be awesome but dont really think is a good idea

>>3027563
yeah i have to build the engine with recicled stuff.

what the hell
have you even done thermodynamics yet?

also "stirling engine" is pretty broad in terms of design...

I know its hard, but we have a lot of time (like almost 2 months) and the theoric part its not that hard, its a simple sistem after all, but make it work is gonna be a hell

Realize that Stirling engines have very little torque, so you'll want your car to have very low rolling resistance or it won't even move!

It's spelled RECYCLED

Not recicled.

Use a catapult. It never said the thing had to arrive intact.

What are you doing all that fancy shit for? Get back to your cubicle and start writing up the programs for the metal stamper! We've got deadlines to meet damnit!

1. buy an RC car and put batterys inside.
2. paint / glue the parts you were supposed to use on the car and make sure they cant see its an RC car.
3. ????
4. Profit/High grade

That's no way to win.

But if you are going this rought, use graphite lubricant for the wheels, strip it down to as light as you possibly can.

Experiment with different types of alcohol to find the best mixture. 100% pure might not be the best.

Make sure the front wheel is smaller than the back wheel, that way the car will be in constant downhill. Attatch engine for the lulz, and to make it seem real.

????
Good grade

:D enjoy
