hey, I had an idea for a power plant. tell me if it would work.

1. Somehow get an enormous magnifying glass into space.
2. Aim the magnifying glass at a large pool of water
3. Use the steam for to spin a turbine, etc..
4. ???
5. Profit!

Yes, it'd work.
No, it wouldn't be practical. For one thing, your magnifying glass would be far too large to produce, let alone launch. Secondly, could you imagine if your lens suffered a navigational failure and focused all that heat in the wrong place?

yeah, i originally thought of this idea as a death ray. you could have boosters on each edge of the magnifying glass to correct it.

you maybe could also ship up the magnifying glass in seperate parts then reconnect them in space
