Why? What areas of the brain are being affected that causes hallucinations? Same happens for cocaine and amphetamine which increase dopamine production in these regions.

"positive" in this sense doesn't mean good. It means added symptoms, such as hallucinations and delusions.

"negative" symptoms are losses. The loss of memory, loss of motor function, etc.
