It took me a long, long time to come to terms with the fact that my best friend is smarter than me. We're probably the two smartest people in the state, tbh. But when he did just a bit better than me on tests, there was always a fuckton of jealousy/rage/self-loathing.

I did better than him at English/writing stuff in high school, but he's always been better at math, and that's what counts, in my mind.
