2994227 No.2994227 [Reply] [Original]

"It is estimated that between 30% and 65% of all people worldwide are infected with toxoplasmosis. However, there is large variation between countries: in France, for example, around 88% of the population are carriers, probably due to a high consumption of raw and lightly cooked meat. Germany, the Netherlands and Brazil also have high prevalences of around 68%, over 80% and 67% respectively."
Toxoplasma symptoms:

>In men:
>Lower rule-consciousness and greater jealousy
>Shorter attention spans
>Slower reactions
>A greater likelihood of breaking rules and taking risks
>More independent, anti-social, suspicious, jealous and morose
>Also suggests that these men are deemed less attractive to women

>Greater warmth, conscientiousness and moralistic behavior (in women)

"Female carriers are suggested to be more outgoing, friendly, more promiscuous, and are considered more attractive to men compared with non-infected controls."

"Other studies suggest that the parasite may influence personality. There are claims of Toxoplasma causing antisocial attitudes in men and promiscuity (or even "signs of higher intelligence")"

Cat's like rats was for the plague, they're the ones going around spreading this shit.

Me, myself, suspect I've been infected due to behavioural changes after puberty that I can't find a reason for. Shit's wierd, yo.

There a few reasons why I like having an allergy to cats.

1.) Can't date girls with cats... this filters out a lot of crazies
2.) Can't visit relatives with cats in their (normally tacky, nasty) homes
3.) Minimal exposure to the primary vector for T. gondii infection among humans

I'm pretty okay with this. Though I have no scientific data for this, I strongly believe cat owners to be more prone to insanity than the general population.

Wikipedia shows treatment of latent toxoplamosis gandii.

Latent
In people with latent toxoplasmosis, the cysts are immune to these treatments, as the antibiotics do not reach the bradyzoites in sufficient concentration.
Medications that are prescribed for latent toxoplasmosis are:
atovaquone — an antibiotic that has been used to kill Toxoplasma cysts inside AIDS patients.[22]
clindamycin — an antibiotic which, in combination with atovaquone, seemed to optimally kill cysts in mice.[23
