Britfag here, is a 'BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering' worth much?

>> No.2988942

>BTEC
>worth much?

You already know the answer to this.

>> No.2988950

Extended BTEC????

You'll make McDonalds team lead in 6 months you lucky devil.

>> No.2988956

''is the highest level of the BTEC structure and is equal to A-Levels.''

>BTEC
>Equal to A levels

This is what BTECfags actually believe.

>> No.2988962

It will get you into university if you merit/distinction the fuck out of it, otherwise approximately as useful as masturbating into a cup of tea.

>> No.2988964

As someone who works at an Engineering firm, yes.

It's a practical based qualification. Universities will take them with relevent work experience - but you'll have to take a foundation year first. I know a guy who went to Bath to do Engineering after doing a BTEC in it.

Who's providing the training? Employer or college?

>> No.2988974

>>2988960
It's worth a lot more since you actually get work experience

>> No.2988977

Equivalent to 3 A-levels in fact.

U mad? U jelly?

Here

Forgot to add, they aren't the equiv of A Levels. They're much more practical. Universities will still consider them if you do well, but the work done is completely different to A Levels.

You can end up with exactly the same thing (decent career and a university place) but it'll take a bit longer doing it through BTECs. On the plus side, though, you'll have actual work experience.

Essentially, it's down to you. If you're academic enough to do well at A Levels then go for it. But if you want proper job training and a reliable set of qualifactions to go with it, go down the work training route.

It's a lot better for Engineering.

UCL is good at jumping into bed with big business and having it's students get stabbed due to it's vile location. That's about it. Bunch of pissed off Oxbridge rejects walking around trying to find a minor study to put their name on.

LSE are more useful than you lot.

IT IS WORTH NOTHING

NOTHING AT ALL

If someone has a BTEC I sometimes treat that as worse than having no qualification at all. They are literally worse than nothing.

Oh look, another person with nothing.

Face it, for on the job training they're useful. No point in taking them outside of work, but if an employers offering you them whilst you work then you might aswell.

Obviously, getting one in hairdressing isn't any good but if you want one as a practical basis to a career then you really don't have any other options.

Im doing the same course

but mine isn't extended, don't know if this is better or not.

Im going to do a foundation degree in engineering next year, all I need is merit merit pass to get on.
Hoping to get MMM or even MMD
