At night it would say "Goodnight"
In the morning it would wake you with "Hello"
If you hit snooze it would say "I don't blame you"
Every five minutes from then on it would ask "Are you still there?"

HOW DO I BUILD THIS

>> No.2950658

Should I try on /g/? do you really not care? where did your curiosity go /sci/

I can't let you do that dave.

Portal is a shitty game. But yeah, /g/ would be better. Too bad they're all stupid as fuck.
Try with an ITX motherboard?
I have no idea how to program a clock, but you could probably program a cheap computer to be a clock.

I doubt /sci/ would know, but I am very interested in this. Is there a way an iPod clock radio could be made to do this?

>> No.2950681

>>2950658
why not just look for a computer program that does this?

>> No.2950691

Is the screen required?

Read up on this, and learn to make sounds:

>> No.2950703

>>2950676
Yeah, because it's easier to construct a computer as opposed to a clock.

>> No.2950705

Electronics would be easy, but making a good looking outer shell would be difficult.
Arduino would do it easily, but arduinos are for fags sooooooo

>Portal is a shitty game
How so?

>> No.2950710

i have the time and will, explain how please, i'm not going through pages and pages of wikipedia and forums to learn how to build alarm clocks in all their different forms and find out the best method when i'm sure someone here already has the skill, please share the knowledge

Now put it in a fiberglass Portal radio case or something.

Fuck you, fine. It's a great game, but it's way overrated.

Sarcasm?

thanks guys, i'll look into the ARM architecture, i was thinking about just making the shell with clay and a catarinfrangent (is that the english word?) and some red leds for the eye

>> No.2950729

>>2950710

Just look up Arduino tutorials and judge whether it's easily in your grasp or not.
It's certainly doable, and really quite simple if you have electronics experience

>Portal is a shitty game

You're entitled to your opinion bla bla bla, but shitty is a bit strong. The only person I've ever met who didn't like Portal only ever played FPS like Call of Duty.

>> No.2950737

gotta say ive been watching this thread all day across several boards. i have functionality ideas but nothing solid as far as engineering the project :(
the eye should be the clock
the turret wings should pop open when the alarm goes off, model detail guns would be the speakers
I think that the outside case should be die-cast
it has to be at least a foot tall

>> No.2950748

Use an AVR microcontroller for the functionality. For the outside, use PVC; it can be bent into different shapes once you warm it with a heat gun. I've unrolled a section of tubing into a flat sheet before, so you should be able to make a clock case using that method.

What does "overrated" mean? That the ratings its users supply are larger than their actual feelings? How do you know that?

>> No.2950847

chumby can run flash, just build it in flash and there you go

>> No.2950873

Arduino + Wave Shield. Done.

>> No.2950895

>>2950771
Overrated means that most people think and say that it's better than it actually is.

Also I still have no clue what the fuck a catarinfrangent is.

It's a retroreflector, apparently.
