It seems irrational to me that we would evolve the feeling of selflessness. Even when giving gifts to people, to me that seems like I do it to feel the pleasure of satisfying another. Which probably stems from the influence of society's morality on us and thus the moral reward.

I agree with Hobbes that people are selfish fucks by nature, but I do not try to reject it or deny it. We evolved it for a good reason.
