What does /sci/ think of drugs and drug use?

Acceptable or unacceptable? How should your country's drug policies change?

Finally, what are your personal experiences with drugs, both medical and recreational.

>Acceptable or unacceptable? How should your country's drug policies change?
"Acceptable" has several different meanings:
1- Ought to be legal
2- Your friends ought not to do it
3- You ought not to do it
And so on, with various complications therein.

Also, not /sci/ related.

Durrr, so does every word - obviously I'm just asking for you to state your opinion on drug use and expand.

>Also, not /sci/ related.

It's more /sci/ related than the thousand threads on /sci/ each day about the existence of God or about how much religion sucks.

And it is /sci/ related completely - the effects of psychedelics for example should be very interesting for anybody even slightly scientifically inclined - many of these substances may also have medical potential that is as of yet untapped and unexplored because of their legal status.

Alright buddy - nice one-dimensional view of things you've got there.

LSD is wonderful. I used to interpret everything being said in only one way. Now in conversation I can think about what people say in multiple different ways, metaphorically, analogously, and literally, all at the same time without keeping track of the conversation.

Then my personal preference is that it should be legal, which stems from my belief in JS Mill's The Harm Principle, from his book On Liberty.

I also do not think it's acceptable in the sense that I don't think multiple obnoxious body piercing are acceptable.

All drugs should be made legal. You don't incarcerate people for addictions, you try to rehabilitate them. The war on drugs is bullshit, hasn't been working, and only induces violence for keeping drug prices so high.

Learn about drugs, know their effects and addiction rate and use at your own risk because they are pretty fucking awesome.

A particlarly interesting phenomenon on LSD and many other psychedelics is the feeling communicating "telepathically" with other people - these other people usually confirm a similar shared feeling - my bet is that one just becomes much more empathetic and in-tune with another persons' mood, especially through reading the body language and subtle facial expressions.

Makes sense, actually.

Are you a fan of Watts? I've believed in a single universal consciousness (a great central self) ever since a 7 gram mushroom trip and a whole lot of Watts.
