How far away are we from sucessfully constructing an A.I? And when will we have the first program to beat the Turing test?
What's preventing us from it for the moment? Do we just need more powerful comuters, or is it the understanding of how to mimick sentience that's lacking?

I'm working on this, OP.
But if you keep asking questions here, i have to answer them. That means i have less time to build my skynet.

by AI you mean "strong AI", and I'd say about 10-20 years. However don't expect the first AI to have the intelligence of an adult human, I'd expect them to be more at the level of a dog or a retarded child.

>> No.2938407

We have made bots which can do the turner test. (it's very easy).

A.I as in neural networks well you just need to train them which is automatic but take's a long time.

>dog or retarded child
that's a high level compared to 4chan

yeah kinda, it would be able to post "THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST...." or something similar as a reply or post topic

it would be able to believe in god and to post troll threads here about evolution being a theory (a geuss)

I know where you're going at, but forming long sentences is required for that trolling and it would be too much for that type of AI. A dog can learn many commands but they are short words such at "go" "retrieve" "good" "attack" "stay" etc... It doesn't have complex words such as "god" in its vocabulary.

I don't think comparison to animals is apt.

It may have a gross intelligence equal to a dog, as if such a thing as gross intelligence could be measured, but it would be heavily optimised towards interacting with humans, and have no space devoted to, for example, discerning smells, catching frisbees, or whatever.

Well you don't understand the analogy then. Think of the roomba robot, except instead of pushing a button and leaving it to clean, you can just say "Roomba clean this room." And it will understand what clean+this+room means. I can also think of some kind of servant robot where you can ask it "Give me a beer." or "Make me a pizza." and it coul go and do it, it might even ask "what kind of pizza?" and also tell you that it can't make it if there are not enough of certain ingredients "we are out of tomato sauce" etc...

But it couldn't go and make very complex decisions by itself, such as inventing new pizza recipes, or lying, or other complicated tasks.

You keep saying "we". What do you mean by that? If you're trying to include yourself in the small group of people currently capable of achieving this goal, well, shut the fuck up and stop saying we, because that doesn't include you.

If you're one of those fags that likes to use "we" when referring to the human race, then you're an idiot.

Since there is no specific party referenced, how would you address the subject outside of "we"?

The human race

Also why even bother asking about A.I. when your level of intelligence is clearly too low to understand anything technical that's being said. Go back to farming or read some goddamn books before you come on here asking open-ended questions like that, peasant.
