I think, since it's impossible to perceive nonexistence, consciousness will always continue to perceive something (at least, consciousness as we experience it--in time--will continue to experience something.) I'm generally of the opinion that post-death consciousness change is fairly disorienting and that it's highly difficult to maintain one's identity throughout, since one wouldn't have the body/surroundings/interpersonal connections that one uses to stabilize one's identity. I imagine it's at least a little similar to the experiences described in the Tibetan Book of the Dead, but of course it could be something entirely different, I really don't know. It just seems to be the best guess to me.

if you really want to know the truth... long story short, you are the entire universe and all life within it. you are every person on this planet. and when the body (your body) dies, another body is born somewhere across the universe. that body and all bodies are in fact, you.
