Anyone here a machinist? I've been thinking of going to school for this because I like working with my hands and have been tearing shit apart and rebuilding since I can remember.

>> No.2877805

Enjoy selling drills at home depot.

No, actually, I don't know what a machinist do that an engineer or architect wouldn't do, except maybe low-grade work like at a tool manufacturer or car repairist.

Watch the SICP videos, if you're and ADHD+math kid, you'll probably like them:

So now your buttravaged because I called your derp response so you come back with this pathetic troll attempt?

>> No.2877866

Why are you asking a bunch of middle class aspies who probably never picked up a wrench in their life about manual labor? Are you retarded?

you seem upset. sorry if I made you feel like you are a redneck.

I was hoping /sci was more dignified than the mouth breathing neckbeards that inhabit the other boards. Guess you can take the tard out of the /b but not the /b out of the tard.

dude, fuck you. I grew up in a small town with a lot of redneck type machinists and shit, and none of them were geniuses, let me tell you. they were sterotypical blue collar christfags.

next you'll be telling us that car mechanics are like doctors, except smarter because they are dealing with such complicated machine.

Ya well you should no better. I know a guy at work who use to be a machinist and knows simple trigonometry. My understanding is that to be a machinist you have to be very precise in your measurements. If you're good at basic math and taking measurements then you should be fine I guess.

Fail troll attempt #5. Machinists work with math, not science. You might want to go back to /b now.

not only could I change the door lock, I could and have changed individual pins inside the tumbler, so that the masterkey will not work on the door, while my key which I filed down 1 part, will still be able to open it.

i didn't google that. i knew how locks work because of researching lockpicking, and then when I needed to have the masterkey not work, I figured it out myself.
